Nollamara woman dies in hospital after attack at home: ‘Very violent and tragic incident’

A 26-year-old woman has died in a Perth hospital after she was allegedly attacked in her own home.

Police axjmtzywnd St John Ambulance paramedics were called to a property on Monterey St in Nollamara about 10.30pm on Tuesday.

The woman was found seriously injured and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital.

Police dog Razor was deployed and later found a man allegedly hiding at the front of a neighbouring property.

“Tragically, the injured 26-year-old woman died in hospital this morning,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Detectives from the homicide squad have taken over the investigation.”

A 40-year-old man, who police say knew the woman, remains in custody and is assisting police with their investigation.

Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said no charges had been laid at this stage.

“We’re still having the investigation, but it’s a very violent and tragic incident,” he told 6PR radio.

Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area between 9.30pm and 11pm on Tuesday is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
