‘Lost for words’: Driver nabbed allegedly speeding at 251km/h in Melbourne

A woman has been caught allegedly driving at 251 km/h northwest of Melbourne.

The alleged offence took place in a 110km/h zone on the Calder Freeway at Woodend, 60km from the city, at 12.30am on Easter Sunday.

Police will allege the high risk incident left officerxjmtzyws “almost lost for words”.

The 42-year-old woman’s vehicle was intercepted in Kyneton a short time later, where she was also allegedly spotted on her phone.

She is expected to be charged on summons with numerous offences including conduct endangering life, drive at dangerous speed and using a mobile phone while driving.

Her vehicle will also be impounded.

The incident comes as Victoria Police runs a statewide operation across the Easter and Anzac Day period.

Police are targeting impaired driving, speed, distraction, and fatigue in high-risk areas throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
