Jury finds Northern Territory policeman not guilty of murdering indigenous man

Northern Territory police officer Zachary Rolfe has been found not guilty over the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Kumanjayi Walker during an attempted arrest.

Constable Rolfe fatally shot Mr Walker in Yuendumu, almost 300km northwest of Alice Springs, in November 2019.

The 30-year-old policeman was charged with murder and pleaded not guilty.

He stood trial in the NT Supreme Court and on Friday was cleared of all charges.

The jury found himxjmtzyw not guilty of murder, as well as the two alternative charges of manslaughter and engaging in a violent act causing death.
