Horror crash claims four lives on major highway

A horror crash has claimed four lives on the New England Highway on Wednesday night.

It is believed a truck and car collided at high speed shortly after 5:30pm between Warwick and Stanthorpe.

Reports suggest the car was T-boned by the truck, killing all four people inside.

The truck driver has been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

“A serious traffic crash has closed the northbound lanes of the New England Highway near the intersection of Sawmill Rd at The Summit, Southern Downs,” Queensland Polixjmtzywce said.

“A diversion for northbound traffic will be via Granite Belt Drive.

Other motorists were told delays would be extensive and to avoid the area.
