Horror at mysterious playground death at Darnley Reserve in Skye

The death of a man at a popular playground in Melbourne’s southeast has rocked locals who visit the area with young children.

Concerned parents expressed their anguish after the body was found at Darnley Reserve in Skye, 50km from the city, on Friday morning.

“It’s too close to home,” one local posted on Facebook.

“Can you imagine if a child had found the body?” asked another.

SES and emergency services were called to the playground at Darnley Drive at around 10am on Friday morning after the man was found.

He could not be revived and police are preparing a report for the coroner.

Other locals were quick to point out the apparent rise in similar incidents in the area in recent months.

“Not another one. What’s going on?” one person asked.

Darnley Reserve is situated among the area’s popular walking tracks and is set just metres from residential homes.

It is also close to several schools.

Another man’s body was found washed up on the beach in nearby Frankston just four days earlier.

Police believe that death was also not suspicious.
