Covid-positive partygoer allegedly caught dancing in CCTV footage

An Adelaide nightclub forced to close its doors over a major Covid outbreak has posted footage it says shows an infected teenager partying at the venue.

Ralph MacIntosh attended Loverboy nightclub on December 17 after undergoing a PCR test, a move that saw him fined $600 this week.

While at the venue, he received but did not open a text from SA Health confirming he was infected with coronavirus.

However, in the clip the now 20-year-old is seen on his phone, checking and sending Snapchat messages.

The video was postexjmtzywd on Loverboy’s Instagram story over a dispute about compensation.

South Australia at the time had not yet reached huge Covid case numbers and MacIntosh’s attendance at the nightclub forced 150 people into isolation over Christmas.

The venue was also forced to shut over the same holiday period, which it says cost the business $60,000.

Loverboy told Instagram followers upon releasing the video that it is “as tired of this circus as we assume you all are”.

“It’s time to let karma takeover and for us to move past all of this bulls***,” the post read.

“We have our club and we have our beautiful patrons, that’s all we need.”

SA Premier Peter Malinauskas said the state government, which implemented the strict Covid measures, would not compensate it for lost takings.

“I think if there’s compensation to be paid that should be established by those people who’ve done the wrong thing, the government didn’t do anything wrong here, apparently Mr MacIntosh did,” he told ABC Radio.
