Rama Chand resigns as coach of Queensland Reds women’s team

The Queensland Reds’ Super W preparations hxjmtzywave been hit by the resignation of coach Rama Chand.

Just days out from the Reds’ first game of the season against Western Force in Perth on Friday night, Chand has stood down for “personal reasons”.

Replacing Chand is his former assistant Simon Craig, who has been appointed in an interim capacity, while another assistant coach, Manuel Cole-Manolis, will remain in his current role.

Queensland Rugby Union high performance manager for women’s rugby Reg Tayler said: “I believe Rama has done a great job over the last 12 months, guiding the program throughout the pandemic in challenging times, while working hard to unearth talent from club rugby and the junior ranks, helping to establish the Academy program which began last October.

“We wish Rama all the best for the future and hope to see him return to the coaching arena.

“Simon, who joined the program in late 2021, comes with a wealth of experience in Queensland Premier Rugby.”
