Four puppies are still missing after a man was accused of stealing them from a home in Adelaide’s south earlier this week.

Between 4pm Wednesday and 5pm Thursday, a Lyle Street house in Morphett Vale was broken into and seven Pit bull cross pups were allegedly stolen.

But just after midnight on Saturday, police searched a Christies Beach home and two of the puppies were located safe and well.

They also arrested and charged a 37-year-old man from the same address with serious criminal trespass and theft.

He was bailed to appear at the Christies Beach Magistrates’ Court on May 23.

Another pup was found by police on Saturday and four remain missing.

The act has sparked outrage throughout the South Australian community, with angry residents taking to social media to express their anger and sadness over the situation.

“How dare he put these babies through that. Other stuff can be replaced but don’t mess with the animals,” one commenter said on the SA Police Facebook.

“Hope the people that have the other puppies are going to the right things with them. Ever so sad,” another said.

A third person posed questions for the owner of the pups.

“Why were these puppies not attended to in 24 hours?,” the woman asked.

Commenters also lashed out at the alleged thief.

“I hope he gets jail time,” one woman wrote.

“Hope the judge throws the book at them and doesn’t just give a slap on the wrist,” another said.

Investigations into the whereabouts of the other puppies remain ongoing, with police urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via its website.
